UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Cup in Bad Goisern on July 9th

The who's who of the bikers' celebrity circuit will meet up at the 4th race of the UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Cup Series in Bad Goisern/Upper Austria on July 9th. World Champion and World Cup leader Massimo DE BERTOLIS (ITA), Vice World Champion Thomas DIETSCH (FRA) and the new European Champion Hannes GENZE (GER) are coming! Thomas SPICHTIG (SUI) second in the World Cup and Paez LEONARDO (COL) are also considered as odds-on favourites. Furthermore Martin KRALER and Alban LAKATA, both Austrians, have as well a great chance to win a medal.

Halftime at the UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Cup: After the first three races taking place in Cypress, Lake Garda and in Canada, Massimo DE BERTOLIS - Marathon World Champion 2004 and current leader of the UCI MTB World Cup - will tackle from the pole position the 100km long World Cup course in the Salzkammergut. His biggest challengers are the German Hannes GENZE and Thomas DIETSCH from France. The only 23 years old GENZE unexpectedly won the European Championship title in Frammersbach (Germany) two weeks ago and will compete for the first time in a World Cup Marathon.

Among the circuit of favourites are furthermore Thomas SPICHTIG und Paez LEONARDO. The performance of the Swiss boosted after each World Cup race: with the hard-earned places eight, four and three SPICHTIG currently holds the second place in the total rating. The Columbian LEONARDO came in second in Lake Garda at his very first World Cup race of this season.

Austria is represented by its top athletes Martin KRALER und Alban LAKATA (both from Innsbruck). KRALER, the Austrian Champion 2003 who came in fourth at the Marathon World Championship 2004 had to settle for the fifth place at the European Championship in Frammersbach. Besides KRALER, Alban LAKATA - the current state champion and holder of the fourth place of the World Cup Marathon ranking - pins Austria's hope on the winners' rostrum.

A World class squad of women: Paola PEZZO (ITA), two times winner of the Olympic gold medal and winner of the Marathon World Cup race in Lake Garda is also on the starting list as well as the present Vice World Champion Irina KALENTIEVA (RUS). According to the insiders those two have the greatest chance of winning the gold medal. The present leader of the World Cup, Daniela LOUIS from Switzerland has registered too and will struggle for a top result as well as Birgit JÜNGST (GER), recent Vice European Marathon Champion and Blaza KLEMENCIC (SLO), placed third at the European Championship Marathon 2005.

World Cup 2004 winner Martina DEUBLER from Bad Goisern (DT Swiss Merida Continental) will go any lengths at her home race after recovering from her virus disease. Since she had to pause her training for a long time her big goal would be a place among the top ten.

Great excitement and awesome action for the spectators are guaranteed in the Inner Salzkammergut on July 9th - not only during the World Cup race, but as well as during the Trophy races of the 31, 53, 100 and 200km distances. The extreme course of over 200km stretches the top bikers to their limits. Just perfect for extreme biker and World record holder of the 24hours individual time trial Wolfgang FASCHING, who joins in the race in Bad Goisern every year. The sure road to success regarding the 200km distance would be to pass the recent 24h MTB European Champion and last year's winner, Thomas HÖDLMOSER and his team fellow Gerhard GULEWICZ (second place 24h EC) - both of them remarkably demonstrated their top form.
Wolfgang FASCHING, who "only" came in third at the European Championship, will jump at the chance in order to make it as difficult as possible for the guys from Bad Ischl to win the Trophy.

In just a few days the Marathon event of the year will take place! Late entries are still possible during the starting number distribution on Friday from 3pm until 9pm or on Saturday up to one hour before the start of each race.

Those who want to experience the whole race as a spectator need also some endurance! In order to reach the highest point of the course we offer a helicopter shuttle service! A round trip flight costs Euro 58,- per person. A sight seeing flight tour over the race area in Bad Goisern costs Euro 45,- for adults and Euro 38,- for kids. Biemme bietet ein Radtrikot und einen Windbreaker im Design des Marathon Weltcup Salzkammergut an. Das hochwertige Trikot wird aus dem Material CoolmaxActive® hergestellt. Coolmax by DuPont leitet Feuchtigkeit wirksam ab, durch die Vierkanalfaser fühlt man sich trocken, wohl und fit. Der Windbreaker wird aus Gore Activent produziert. Gore Activent ist sehr leicht, dauerhaft winddicht, hoch atmungsaktiv und trotzdem wasserdicht. Teilnehmer können das Trikot und den Windbreaker gleich vor Ort am Biemme Stand bestellen und auch die Größe probieren. Die Auslieferung erfolgt dann bis Mitte Oktober.
